Telecom System Security Engineer

Job description

We are looking for a Telecom System Security Engineer on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, to join their Systems Security Engineering Section. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Support to the Agency projects and programs in the area of security engineering & cyber security, including system security design, definition and implementation of system security requirements, vulnerability analysis, security monitoring and threat assessment;
  • Contribution to the definition, analysis and consolidation of system security requirements;
  • Contribution to the definition of security reference architecture for space systems;
  • Support system reviews through projects’ lifecycle on security aspects;
  • Analysis of vulnerabilities, assess their impact and propose suitable security mitigations and countermeasures;
  • Analysis of evidence of fixes of vulnerabilities;
  • Assessment of Requests for Waivers / Requests for Deviation on security aspects and provide recommendations regarding their acceptability;
  • Organisation and supervise security audits / vulnerability assessment / penetration testing activities on ESA projects and programs and analysing their results (including analysis of evidences of findings and
  • corrections);
  • Support with Research and Develop activities during their lifecycle (writing the Statement of Work, assessing Industry proposals, supervising the implementation);
  • Provide support to the Information Security Officer (ISO).

Job requirements

  • A Master or PhD degree or equivalent in Engineering (preferably in cyber security, or computer science, or telecom, or aerospace);
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Security engineering / cyber security;
  • Knowledge of space systems and ground systems architecture;
  • Good knowledge of network protocols;
  • Very good knowledge of security best practices and hardening guidelines;
  • Knowledge of modern applied cryptography;
  • Knowledge of Information Security Management Systems;
  • Knowledge of CCSDS protocols and standards is a plus;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration.
