As an ATG Business Developer, you will be working together with ATG’s management, engineering staff, and fellow business developers, for the in-house Engineering Services and Product Development division. You will work on the implementation of the company’s strategy through diverse missions and assignments in one or more of our target domains, in alignment with the other business development stakeholders. Our target domains are: Space, Big science, Nuclear and other High-Tech. You will be responsible for achieving business development targets for your target domain, which will include the following activities:

  • Provide business development insights through input and feedback to the company strategy;
  • Identify business opportunities with existing and new clients in the public and private sector;
  • Identify potential partners to strengthen specific offerings or the general portfolio;
  • Create and maintain a pipeline of sales leads, ensuring that leads are properly qualified;
  • Report on status and progress to the management of the Engineering Services and Product Development division and the Chief Commercial Officer;
  • Liaise with the engineering staff and engineering management to qualify and develop leads and opportunities together in a multi-disciplinary atmosphere;
  • Manage the preparation of offers and proposals to customers, where agreed;
  • Support negotiation of resulting contracts;
  • Develop and maintain specific focused client relationships (long term);
  • Review and propose improvements to the business development process;
  • Attend agencies/industry events, including conferences and association events, and contribute information and feedback on upcoming market trends.

Job requirements

  • A Master’s degree in a technology subject, business administration, or economics;
  • At least 8 years of experience in one or more of our target domains, of which at least 4 years of experience in a business development (supporting) role;
  • Proven track record in the business development of Engineering Services and/or Product Development in at least one of the following sectors, including knowledge of institutions and industry in the domains of:
    • Space,
    • Big Science,
    • Nuclear,
    • Other High-Tech;
  • Good knowledge of the complete business acquisition lifecycle, including identification, qualification and developing capture plans and win strategies;
  • Excellent commercial, financial, and business acumen;
  • Affinity with any of the following technical disciplines is a distinctive asset:
    • Composite materials and structures,
    • Thermal and Mechanical space engineering/products,
    • Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies;
  • Experience and ability to write and manage an ESA ITT response is a distinctive asset;
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills;
  • A resilient personality and working style;
  • Being able to handle pressure, establish and meet deadlines, prioritise, and execute parallel activities;
  • Whilst having a strong self-starting attitude, the best candidate must be equally adept at building relationships with colleagues and working cooperatively with others to achieve goals;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Fluency in any of the other major European languages is a distinctive asset;
  • A rudimentary sense of humour is a must;
