Job description

We are looking for two Development Engineers on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Immenstaad, Germany. The selected candidates should show integrity and professionalism. The deadline for submitting applications is 29 November 2022.


Please note, the successful candidates will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries) and not by our client. Furthermore, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider.


The successful candidates will be tasked with, but not limited to:

PROFILE 1

  • Collaboration in the execution of static and dynamic structural analyses of scientific and earth observation satellites and their components, as well as performing thermal analyses in close cooperation with other departments;
  • Execution of strength verifications of fasteners according to VDI and ESA guidelines;
  • Execution of mechanical performance analyses of instruments and high-precision structures for space applications;
  • Collaboration in the simulation and supervision of vibration tests on satellites and their components;
  • Collaborate in the creation of mathematical structural models using the finite element method;
  • Performing structural mechanics analysis in Hyperworks and Patran, the FEM solver NASTRAN, and the software Spacebolt for the bolt verification;
  • Contribution to the development of internal tools in Matlab, for work preparation and for the evaluation and processing of analysis and test results;
  • Documentation of all work, especially the mathematical models, analysis, and test results.

PROFILE 2

  • Performing static and dynamic structural analyses of science and earth observation satellites and their components, as well as the performance of thermal analyses in close cooperation with other departments;
  • Execution of strength verifications of fasteners according to VDI and ESA guidelines;
  • Execution of mechanical performance analyses of instruments and high-precision structures for space applications;
  • Simulation and support of vibration tests on satellites and their components;
  • Creation of mathematical structural models using the finite element method;
  • Performing structural mechanics analysis in Hyperworks and Patran, the FEM solver NASTRAN, and the software Spacebolt for the bolt verification;
  • Development of internal tools in Matlab, for work preparation and for the evaluation and processing of analysis and test results;
  • Documentation of all work, especially the mathematical models, analysis, and test results;
  • Presentation of the results to the customers.

Job requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in the field of mechanical design and verification of aerospace structures;
  • Very good knowledge of static and dynamic structural analyses using the Finite Element Method and with manual calculations, as well as verification by tests;
  • Good knowledge of space-specific requirements;
  • Good knowledge of design and calculation of fiber composite structures;
  • Familiarity with tool development in Matlab;
  • Very good knowledge of Nastran, Hyperworks, Patran, and Spacebolt;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office;
  • Good communication skills to ensure the flow of information;
  • The ability to integrate into a team;
  • High level of responsibility, ability to work under pressure, and organizational skills;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Proficiency in German, both written and spoken.
