Job description

We are looking for an Electromechanical Engineer (IFMIF Project) on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Munich, Germany. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Support the preparation of technical specifications and technical documentation for the supply of a new upgraded injector for LIPAc (the scope of the contract will include operational feedback analysis, modelling, control system, vacuum system, diagnostics, test stand);
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications and technical documentation for the supply of eight spares brazed RF-RFQ couplers and two spares RF-SRF LINAC couplers (the scope of the contracts will include operational feedback analyses, modelling, RF simulations, thermo-mechanical design, manufacturing and test up to commissioning at full power);
  • Support the tendering and evaluation phases of the above contracts;
  • Support the technical follow-up of the above contracts after signature as well as the running one;
  • Support the collection of the technical files to prepare an engineering dossier for the procurement of a spare SRF LINAC cavity;
  • Availability to travel to EU institutes and to Rokkasho for technical exchanges.

Job requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering;
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience in particle accelerators (design, operation, maintenance);
  • Experience in design/operation of ion sources and/or superconducting cavities for accelerators;
  • Experience in Radio Frequency systems for accelerators is an advantage;
  • Experience in Electron Cyclotron Resonance ion sources is an advantage;
  • Experience in vacuum technologies is an advantage;
  • Experience in diagnostics for injectors is an advantage;
  • Experience in design and operation of laboratory scale test stands is an advantage;
  • Capable of working independently as well as in coordinated teams;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in EU.
