Job description

We are looking for an ESA Web TV Production Editor on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, to support the Head of Digital Media Production Office in ensuring the correct development of the needed infrastructure and capacity at ESA-ESTEC establishment as well as the planning, production, and publishing of content on the ESA Web TV channel(s) with a strong focus on Internal Communication needs.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe and not by ESA.

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Development of adequate infrastructure at ESTEC to ensure the further development and consolidation of ESA Web TV by:
    • Directing the day-to-day production of the ESA Web TV for internal communication purposes, and on an ad-hoc basis for external communication purposes;
    • Liaising with existing resources of Content Office (Joint Communication Office in particular) to exploit already existing capacities and competences for filming and video editing;
    • Setting up workflow and processes for the smooth running of the ESTEC facility;
    • Ensuring correct deployment and implementation of infrastructure (studio, chroma key, camera, sound, lighting, etc…) at ESTEC level;
    • Acting as Anchor/writer for ESA Web TV when/if required;
    • Assigning presenters if needed;
    • Ensuring approvals of all material according to the agreed processes.
  • Development and overview of ESA Web TV with the main focus on internal communications, and production of adequate content with a strong focus on internal communication aspects by:
    • Preparing initial, and then detailed, programming schedule in line with the themes and events put forth by the Editorial Board with mainly, but not only, a strong focus on internal communication;
    • Content conception and commissioning in line with the Editorial Board’s plan;
    • Liaising with the Branding and Partnerships Office for correct implementation of ESA Branding and Corporate Identity Unit and with the Digital Media Production Office for the production of visual materials (i.e., video footage, images, graphics);
    • Editing of scripts commissioned from and drafted by the editorial team;
    • Ensuring promotional materials for coherent publicity across all channels with a focus on the internal ones;
    • Ensuring approvals of all material according to the agreed processes.
  • Attending weekly Production Meetings;
  • Bringing contentious issues to the attention of the Work Package Manager and Service Manager.

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication or Journalism;
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience with video and podcast production;
  • Experience in handling/advising on corporate internal communication content;
  • Experience in managing and conducting high level persons video and audio interviews;
  • Expertise in MS Word and Adobe Premiere;
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Audacity is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of space matters in general, and of the European space scene in particular, is an asset;
  • Ability to independently create visual concepts, designs, and high-quality videography at a level ready for publication;
  • Ability to prepare visual aids and present complex scientific material;
  • Ability to prepare backgrounds for journalists and media, and support material for media campaigns;
  • Ability to manage contractual and stakeholder relationships with routine information updates, ensuring compliance with the communication strategy;
  • Ability to adjust communication content and style to deliver messages to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight schedules dictated by internal or external clients;
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to work independently without close supervision;
  • Ability to write and edit in English at a mother-tongue level. As most English texts come from non-mother-tongue authors, it is essential that applicants can edit texts of varying degrees of complexity at the highest level in English without recourse to further checks.
  • Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
