Job description

We are looking for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Cadarache, France. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Provide I&C expertise and technical leadership to TBS Project Team;
  • Support main suppliers to find feasible and efficient I&C solutions and architectures;
  • Generate I&C documentation and studies: specifications, guidelines, proposals;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the P&ID of the different TBS sub-systems;
  • Follow-up I&C design activities carried out by main contractors;
  • Review of I&C design deliverables implemented by main contractors;
  • Support and follow-up R&D, prototyping and testing activities;
  • Contribute to clarify qualification requirements and inputs for qualification activities;
  • Contribute to the revision of qualification strategies, test plans, test execution, and reporting;
  • Contribute to solve technical blocking situations in I&C activities;
  • Ensure transversal communication and consistency with other ITER plant systems I&C, enabling optimization and standardisation of solution.

Job requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering. Alternatively, relevant vocational training and extensive professional experience;
  • At least 15 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience in and knowledge of the design, implementation, and testing of control systems in industrial/scientific facilities;
  • Experience in the design of control system architectures such as control loops, sensors/actuators, signal conditioning/acquisition, controllers, networks, and HMI/SCADA;
  • Experience in the design of electronics/pneumatic cubicles/cabinets and wiring/cabling;
  • Experience in the development of technical documentation for large projects: requirements specification, technical reviews and notes, engineering design documentation, test, and acceptance documentation, etc;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the EU.
