Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Hydraulics) on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Barcelona, Spain.

The successful applicant will be employed by ATG Europe and not by our Client.

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Provide support to the engineering activities of the design and construction of the Water-Cooling System (WCS) and Coolant Purification System (CPS) of the WCLL-TBS (Water Cooled Lithium Lead Test Blanket System);
  • During the design phase, coordinate and supervise the activities carried out by the external contractors, focusing on the optimisation of the components and system layout, mechanical integration, instrumentation deployment, thermo-hydraulic and thermo-mechanical analyses, management of the internal (to Test Blanket System) and external ITER PBS interfaces, verification of the compliance with the technical requirements;
  • Prepare the technical specifications of the service contracts for the design and construction of the two systems and drive the technical review of all suppliers contractual deliverables dealing with the WCS and CPS design;
  • Follow-up the design and manufacturing of thermo-hydraulic and thermo-mechanical systems whilst keeping with internal and external ITER PBS interfaces and verifying compliance with the technical requirements;
  • Support in activities covering aspects of:
  • Preparation and design of mechanical components (ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-MR, RCC-MRx, Eurocodes, EN standards, European Directives, etc.) by use of at least one code and standard;
  • Production of built-to-print documentation;
  • Assessment of built-to-print documentation, checking both technical and economic aspects;
  • Definition of the design of mechanical systems based on relevant manufacturing processes (forming, forging, rolling, joining, machining, assembly, testing, etc.);
  • Performance of FMEAs and/or functional analyses and/or reliability analyses and/or spare part analyses.

Job requirements

  • BEng in industrial, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or nuclear engineering (or equivalent). Alternatively, relevant vocational training and extensive professional experience;
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • Work experience in some of the following fields:
    • Experience in the preparation of the detailed design of mechanical components;
    • Experience in the use of at least one code and standard for the design of mechanical components (ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-MR, RCC-MRx, Eurocodes, EN standards, European Directives, etc.);
    • Experience in the production of built-to-print documentation;
    • Experience in the assessment of built-to-print documentation, checking both technical and economic aspects;
    • Experience in the definition of manufacturing tolerances of mechanical assemblies considering the final dimensional requirements of the assemblies, including functional annotation;
    • General knowledge of arc welding (TIG, GMAW or SMAW) and/or brazing and/or HIPping;
    • Experience in the definition of the design of mechanical systems based on relevant manufacturing processes (forming, forging, rolling, joining, machining, assembly, testing, etc.);
    • Experience in the performance of FMEAs.
  • Capable of working independently as well as in coordinated teams;
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in EU.
