Job description

We are looking for a PA and Safety Support Engineer on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, to join their Product Assurance Management Section. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:


  • Support the Galileo Space Segment PA&S Unit in all the activities related to the execution of the Galileo Space Segment Product Assurance and Safety Programme;
  • Guide and monitor the implementation of PA&S requirements by contractors in order to assess performance/effectiveness, participating in design reviews and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions;
  • Ensure the implementation of the Space Segment PA&S Requirements baseline across the applicable Galileo Satellite Project;
  • Support the process for evaluation and approval of contractors’ waivers and deviations;
  • Participate in the Boards established within the project for the disposition of Non-conformances / Failure Reviews, Test Reviews, etc.;
  • Monitor the integration and test activities with test witnessing, mandatory and key inspection points, configuration inspections and quality assurance audits;
  • Support the definition of the formal acceptance requirements and conduction of acceptance reviews of all assigned contractual deliverable items;
  • Ensure the preparation of design trade-offs, analyses and reports using RAMS data to support project decisions;
  • Support the approval process and monitoring the procurement of EEE parts, materials and processes and controlling the implementation of applicable requirements;
  • Support launch campaigns as required;
  • Support security activities for space segment as appropriate;
  • Support the maintenance of the Navigation Directorate Quality Management System as required.

Job requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering;
  • At least 10 years of experience in the space sector, including 5 years in Product and Quality Assurance;
  • Experience in PA & Safety management in the space domain;
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • High degree of organizational and communication abilities;
  • Comfortable working in a diverse and multinational team environment;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
