Job description

We are looking for a shop attendant on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Cologne, Germany. The successful candidate will manage the daily in-store operations at the assigned location. Please be aware that this is a part time position for 5 hours per week.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Receive merchandise;
  • Cross reference shipment notes and deliveries;
  • Unbox deliveries and store in storage facility;
  • Replenish shop shelves;
  • Open the shop according to the agreed time pattern;
  • Take appropriate care of the look-and-feel of the shop, including tidiness;
  • Operate the till and sales software;
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and commercial fashion;
  • Accept card payments only;
  • Maintain updated inventory;
  • Interact with the merchandise source in case of problems;
  • Report to the ESA Shops Service Manager.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the essential requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection.

  • Good organizational skills;
  • An affinity with and enthusiasm for the Space domain;
  • Interest in learning about space missions in order to guide customers;
  • Accuracy in managing stock levels and reporting;
  • IT literate;
  • Good command of the English language;
  • Good command of German is a strong asset;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
