Job description

We are looking for two Programme/Project Controllers on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, to join their Programme and Project Control Service. The deadline for submitting applications in 26 August 2022.

Please note, the successful candidates will be employed by ATG Europe and not by ESA.

The successful candidates will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Contribute to the smooth operations of the TEC Directorate and to the efficient management of its resources and technical infrastructure, with particular emphasis on the control and administrative support functions necessary to execute activities and Programmes under the remit of the Technology Programme Office;
  • Provide support for the Programme and Project Control Service activities for the different projects under the responsibility of the Systems Department in TEC;
  • Provide general assistance in the field of resources and activities controlling under the responsibility of the department;
  • Assist the Business Control and Administration Manager (BCAM) in implementing a pro-active control function, through:
  • Proper cost and commitment planning, with regular reporting and related mid-term reviews to facilitate the timely initiation of the agreed work / procurement plans;
  • Monitoring the execution of activities flagging deviations and reporting on the main causes;
  • Coordinating internal resources and activities;
  • Interfacing with line management and stakeholders;
  • Performing analysis and preparing reports (including drill down reporting, statistical analysis. and trend analysis) and presentation material as necessary;
  • Contribute to the preparation of management and coordination meetings and support them on an ad/hoc basis;
  • Ensure all processes documentation is in place and up to date and provide the necessary support and training to colleagues and newcomers;
  • Collaborate in the continuous improvement of the existing processes, methods, and tools.

Job requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration from a recognised institution;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in controlling and/or management of activities and resources in the aerospace industry;
  • Technical experience is an asset;
  • Experience/knowledge of the Agency activities is an asset;
  • Experience with SAP and in particular ECC and SRM modules and familiarity with relevant ESA corporate applications (e.g., ESA-p) and/or TEC IT Tools is an asset;
  • Experience in supporting the management of Technology Programmes as well as in Agency's practices and processes is an asset;
  • High proficiency in the use of modern activities and resource management support tools/databases of standard office automation support software packages, including advanced use of Excel;
  • Ability to rapidly understand and adapt to ESA specific context and environment including ESA corporate IT applications;
  • Ability to manage large and complex data sets and to synthesize information;
  • Excellent analytical, organisation and reporting skills together with a proactive attitude to solving problems and proficiency with IT tools;
  • Ability to readily assimilate and coordinate input data and providing timely output;
  • Ability to work autonomously, effectively, and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and customer focus;
  • Reliability, rigor, and initiative in the execution of the assigned tasks;
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken;
  • Knowledge of another official ESA language is an asset.
