Job description

We are looking for a ​AOCS & GNC Architect​ on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in ​Milan, Italy​. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).


As an AOCS & GNC architect, you will lead and drive the AOCS & GNC activities along the whole project lifecycle, including design, development, integration, verification, launch and in-orbit operations.

This is applicable both for subsystems developed in OHB-I and subsystems contracted to a subcontractor.


You will be actively involved with other projects of the same product line, acting both as a keeper and an innovator of the product technical baseline, by proposing disruptive approaches to optimize the processes, reduce the Total Cost of Ownership and improve the schedule.


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Technical Lead of AOCS/GNC subsystems;
  • Develop AOCS/GNC architectures and perform related trade-offs;
  • Lead the Design and Development of AOCS/GNC subsystems;
  • Technical management of AOCS/GNC subsystem subcontractor;
  • Technical Support to Procurement of AOCS/GNC equipment;
  • Lead the Verification and Validation of AOCS/GNC subsystems; 
  • Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities; 
  • Support to satellite proposals and system studies for AOCS/GNC topics; 
  • Preparation of technical documentation; 
  • Participation to Launch campaign.

Job requirements

  • Doctoral degree in aerospace engineering or comparable qualifications and professional experience;
  • Experience in the space business, especially with AOCS/GNC architectures, procurement, design and verification and validation processes;
  • Strong knowledge of attitude and orbit dynamics, missions, SW, and AOCS/GNC equipment;
  • Experience in satellite verification, including participation to AIT campaigns;
  • Good knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Office Tools and DOORS;
  • Excellent sense of responsibility;
  • Structured hands-on work-approach;
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Customer oriented thinking-approach;
  • Experience with Deep Space missions;
  • Knowledge of autocoding;
  • Ability to work in international teams;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
