Job description

We are looking for ​a Content Editor​ to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support Directorate of Commercialisation Industry and Competitiveness of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their locations in Harwell, United Kingdom or Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

The purpose of this Support Service is to support the Space Markets Office in the fulfilment of its objectives related to the execution of market intelligence and marketing endeavours. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.

Please be aware that this is a temporary leave cover position intended to be filled for a fixed period of 4 months initially, with a possibility of extension to a longer support.

Please be informed this position requires full on-site support.  

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Review written content:

    • Proofread documents for typographical, grammatical and punctuation issues;

    • Organise information in documents to improve the clarity and flow of text;

    • Restructure or reformat texts to improve readability and reflect the predetermined tone of voice.

  • Produce creative content:

    • Coordinate with ESA internal programmes/projects Technical Officers to collect relevant technical information for the execution of editorial tasks;

    • Create highly shareable content, original copy and edit content for a range of communications materials: articles, postcards, brochures, flyers, webpages, newsletters etc.;

    • Vary voice, style and other characteristics demanded by the industry, companies or targer audience at hand;

    • Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce compelling content.

  • Manage editorial tasks;

    • Weekly update of editorial plan and associated action plan to support project/programme objectives and/or marketing campaigns;

    • Keep a log identifying the requests, requested date of article, date of publication ready, the actual date of publication. This shall be included in the editorial plan and in the quarterly report;

    • Collaborate with technical teams from concept development to delivery of final product;

    • Manage and report on KPIs related to marketing campaigns, newsletters, bulletins, web articles etc.;

    • Stay updated on appropriate ESA style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging.

  • Support marketing campaigns:

    • Research and understand the needs and target audiences;

    • Write fresh copies that connect with the desired audience and drive action;

    • Support the elaboration of the marketing campaign work plan, including delivering time estimation;

    • Deliver the content of the campaigns as per work plan;

    • Work in collaboration with relevant Technical Officers (TOs) in the project team to the prepare the content and get approval from TOs;

    • Coordinate with the digital marketing team for the publishing calendar of approved content.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Outreach, or a related discipline;

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience;

  • High proficiency with modern electronics office automation tools, in particular Microsoft Office suite and electronic mailing;

  • Ability to communicate with industry counterparts in the execution of the project-specific tasks;

  • Familiarity with ESA working environment in a similar position is a distinct advantage;

  • Familiarity with outreach activities related to science and technology.

  • Capacity to identify priority actions and handle high workloads;

  • Easy contact with personnel and well-balanced autonomy in the execution of the requested tasks;

  • High level of flexibility as well as initiative and team spirit;

  • Rigor, commitment, and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
