We are looking for a Director of Professional Consultancy in support to ATG HQ at our location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.


ATG Europe is a growing company with headquarters based in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, next to the Technology Centre of the European Space Agency. With subsidiaries in Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy and France, ATG is a leading provider of specialised engineering, scientific and technical services to the Space, Big Science and High-Tech industries.


In the context of its international expansion, ATG Group is recruiting a Director of the Professional Consultancy (PC) Business Unit.

As Director, you will be in charge of directing and supervising all PC Account Managers, with two principal objectives: the growth of the Company and the compliance to the legislation for consultancy business in all countries where ATG operates. Furthermore, you will be part of the ATG Group Management Team and work closely with the company’s Executives on the implementation of ATG Europe Professional Consultancy strategy, based on a very diverse missions and assignments. This opens a unique opportunity to be engaged in innovative projects and challenges to perform to high standards and utilize the full extent of your professional knowledge.

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Oversee financial performance;
  • Motivate and lead managers and teams;
  • Develop and implement business strategies;
  • Meet the objectives assigned by the Executives board;
  • Implement company policies;
  • Ensure the company and employees follow and comply with legal guidelines;
  • Build relationships with business partners;
  • Oversee business operations;
  • Create strategic and business plans;
  • Provide strategic advice and leadership;
  • Pursue market development opportunities;
  • Assess risks to ensure company survival, provide solutions and prevent issues;
  • Ensure the business hits its financial targets;
  • Follow industry trends and market changes;
  • Contribute and maintain the company’s public profile;
  • Identify business opportunities with existing and new clients in the public and private sector;
  • Ensure continuity of the existing activities throughout the clients’ procurement cycle;
  • Prospect for potential clients and convert them into increased business opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain specific focussed client relationships (long term);
  • Identify potential partners to guarantee the optimization of ATG’s positioning globally as well as for specific opportunities;
  • Manage the preparation of offers and proposals to customers (including contributing personally);
  • Support negotiation of resulting contracts;
  • Create and maintain a pipeline of sales leads;
  • Ensure leads are properly qualified;
  • Achieve the business development targets;
  • Submit and ensure data is accurate on weekly/monthly progress reports;
  • Review and propose improvements to the governance of the business development process in accordance with Best Practice;
  • Attend Agency/Industry functions, including conferences and association events, and contribute information and feedback on upcoming market trends.

Job requirements

  • A University degree in a technology subject, Business Administration or Economics;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with one or more of ATG's accounts; 
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar business management position role;
  • Good knowledge of complete business acquisition lifecycle, including identification, qualification and developing capture plans and win strategies;
  • Ability to handle pressures, establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise multiple, simultaneous activities;
  • Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills;
  • Commercial, financial and business acumen;
  • Accountability and engagement in reaching agreed objectives regardless of the context;
  • Able to build relationships with colleagues and work cooperatively with others to achieve goals;
  • Excellent written and oral command of the English language;
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate;
  • Applicants must be able to provide a recent formal statement of good conduct;
  • Proven track record in the development of services business and systems for the space sector is a strong asset;
  • Knowledge and acquaintance with Space related institutions and industry in Italy and Europe is highly desirable;
  • Fluency in any of the other major European languages is considered a strong asset.
