Job description

We are looking for an Editorial Support professional to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in Cologne, Germany. The purpose of this Support Service is to support HRE-FS in the definition, planning and execution of internal and external communication and outreach activities. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism.


Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).


The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Support with producing narratives, key messages and themes in line with Explore2040, the HRE Communication Strategy, HRE annual communication plan, and ESA’s corporate communication plan and objectives;
  • Prepare and implement communication campaigns for human and robotic exploration missions and activities in cooperation with ESA Country Desks, Media Relations and the ESA Newsroom, on international level as well as on Member State/national level;
  • Support HRE participation in internal and external events and exhibitions regarding HRE activities, as well as regarding Human and Robotic exploration in general;
  • Support coordination with ESA Country Desks, Media Relations, and the ESA Newsroom for the service delivery in all Work Packages in this statement of work;
  • Implement editorial work (printed and digital, social, mobile, and video channels) e.g. script, present, and create videos to present ESA activities in a lively and engaging format, write and edit articles and background content for the HRE presence on social media and websites, research images and ensuring accurate captions, conduct interviews;
  • Before publication, validate content and technical information with the sources of news and information within HRE, ESA and/or external entities (industry, scientists) ensuring that all content published is compliant with ESA editorial guidelines and agreed approval processes;
  • Liaise and coordinate with the other services in this statement of work (e.g. for production and outreach support services) as relevant and needed to ensure timely production/ publication of communication products and/or delivery of communication activities;
  • Liaise and coordinate with ESA corporate communications services, external contracting companies, and any other interface as applicable to ensure timely production/ publication of communication products and/or delivery of communication activities;
  • Implement EAC’s internal and external communication plan;
  • Coordinate and maintain documents related to EAC PR & communications policy, operations and procedure.

Job requirements

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience;
  • Highly proficient in communication means and social media;
  • Professional trainings in relevant subjects are an asset
  • Customer orientated;
  • Teamwork attitude;
  • Diplomatic and political sensibility;
  • Understanding of international environments;
  • Autonomy in delivery;
  • Proactive attitude;
  • Open to flexible working hours;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
