Job description

We are looking for an Electric Propulsion Engineer on behalf of and in support to our client either as a remote position or on-site at their location in ​Fino Mornasco, Italy​.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Provide technical expertise and consultancy in propulsion to project teams responsible for spacecraft development; 

  • Enhance support for propulsion subsystem activities utilizing Hall thruster-based propulsion technology and its critical components; 

  • Perform propulsion sub-system level analysis to provide inputs to system budgets;  

  • Develop and validate models for sub-system design; 

  • Identify critical development challenges and assist in their resolution; 

  • Validate analysis results through testing; 

  • Regularly report to the Head of Propulsion and Lead System Engineer.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Plasma Physics; 

  • A PhD in a related field is a strong asset; 

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience; 

  • Strong background and specific experience in propulsion; 

  • Experience with EcosimPRO and SPIS; 

  • Expertise in fluid dynamics and fluid mechanics; 

  • In-depth understanding of relevant technologies, R&D trends, and the industry landscape; 

  • Proficiency in fluidic system design; 

  • Expertise in designing, developing, and validating tools and methods relevant to the field; 

  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles as they relate to fluid systems; 

  • Familiarity with space engineering standards, including preparation and implementation is an asset; 

  • Prior experience in electric propulsion subsystems development and qualification is an asset;  

  • Experience with propulsion sub-system level analysis (e.g. gauging, cleanliness, contamination, etc.) and their methodologies is an asset; 

  • Background in institutional projects is an asset;  

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
