We are looking for a ​Geospatial Services Development Support professional​ to support IRIDE at the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in ​Frascati, Italy​. ​The activity is aimed at providing support to technical management and specialised engineering support for the IRIDE Service​.   

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Support the technical management of Industry in charge of Services Segment Elements Provisioning; 

  • Review of documentation from various sources (e.g. Integrated Project Team (IPT), Industry); 

  • Support to the activities related to service value chains software design and development, including also the interface/integration with Marketplace and with respect to the definition of suitable architecture; 

  • Support the preparation and participation to Service Segment reviews organised either by the IPT or by Industry; 

  • Support the reviews and the technical management of Service Portfolio Specification, Service Level Agreements, Validation processes for the following thematic domains: Coastal and Marine mapping and surveillance, Air quality, Water Management, Land mapping and monitoring, agriculture, forest, ground motion, hydrometeo- climate; 

  • Support the review and the technical management of the definition, development and validation of multi-spectral, multi-mission processing methodologies and related software tools; 

  • Provide support to geospatial products definition; 

  • Provide support to the acceptance by the Service Segment team of Service Segment Elements (i.e. Service Value Chains); 

  • Support the technical management of Service Segment Integration and Validation activity; 

  • Generate technical notes whenever needed during the Project lifetime; 

  • Provide support to training activities and dissemination. 

Job requirements

  • Masters’ degree in Engineering, Physics, Earth Science; 

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience; 

  • Experience with geospatial software applications, in particular in: 

  • Analysis and definition of application requirements in the framework of a general schema for a geospatial service value chain; 

  • Design of geospatial services and related software tools; 

  • Definition and execution of software integration, verification and validation activities; 

  • Analysis and estimation of service performances; 

  • Software anomalies management: reporting, analysis, classification and resolution. 

  • Knowledge of the ECSS standards and, as an asset, documentation and configuration control management techniques; 

  • Experience with EO techniques and EO algorithms design and development, with GIS procedures design and development, with methodologies for geo-information generation in the above mentioned thematic domains; 

  • Experience with optical, multi-spectral, hyperspectral and/or microwave remote sensing techniques; 

  • Self-motivation, autonomy and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team; 

  • Flexibility in dealing with day-to-day operational challenges; 

  • Strong teamwork; 

  • Able to thoroughly address responsibilities, with good attention to detail and a proven understanding of documentation methods and requirements; 

  • Able to review, assess and document problems and to propose solutions; 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members; 

  • Candidates are eligible to live and work in the EU;  

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;  

  • Fluency in Italian, both written and spoken, is considered a strong asset.
