We are looking for a ​Graphic & Multimedia Support professional​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​Science directorate​. Please be aware that this is a part-time position for 8 hours per week. 

 

The successful candidate will produce graphic and multimedia still & animated content for the communication of all aspects of the Science directorate’s programme, in formats for social, printed and online media, as well as a video formats, following ESA brand guidelines. This includes portraying missions, technology and science goals, and visualization of scientific results and data. Particular emphasis shall be placed on material for online and social media – infographics, stories, as well as short, engaging, eye-catching animations and short videos with a dynamic content & rhythm to compete in the social media environment, as well as adaptation of productions for the different styles & formats adequate for different social media platforms. 

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Design artists impressions, partly incorporating 3D renders; 

  • Design infographics and scientific illustrations; 

  • Design spacecraft in illustrative mode, in vectorial drawing; 

  • Design media kits and information packages, with interactive links pointing to online resources; 

  • Design brochures, fact sheets, logos, key visuals and similar products;  

  • Design merchandise and exhibition material such as posters, stickers, banners, backdrops, roll-ups, lanyards, magnets, pencils and similar products; 

  • Adjust products for social media formats & platforms;  

  • Create social media cards/graphics; 

  • Design or adapt illustrations for strategic presentations and documentation, including, but not limited to, graphics depicting Programme priorities, timelines, financial plots, benefits, goals, and achievements; 

  • Design strategic publications such as programme flyers to be included with media packs, printed material for guest operations and future programme plans for political stakeholder; 

  • Design presentation and document templates; 

  • Design and produce graphic motion movies, animated infographics; 

  • Produce short videos from various source footage & animations;  

  • Apply visual effects, text effects, intro, outro, and ESA branding elements; 

  • Produce social media animations (GIFs); 

  • Create output in formats & styles for different social media platforms; 

  • Design or adapt video, where appropriate, for strategic presentations; 

  • Enter new productions and updated graphics in the SCI Communications team’s shared network archive of previous graphics productions, graphical elements and source files; 

  • Maintain and update the content of the shared network graphics archive; 

  • Perform updates of previous products as requested by the LS or CPO; 

  • Guided by the Science communication team and scientists, select pre-processed, single channel images from ESA and other science data archives; 

  • Combine data from single or several spacecraft, science instruments, wavelengths into visually engaging and instructive images, e.g. highlighting individual components of astronomical objects, physical processes, or the contributing datasets by colour; 

  • Output as RGB and engaging animated formats: fade-over, pan-zoom movies, animated time series;  

  • In collaboration with the Science communication team and scientists, develop visually engaging and instructive visualizations of large and complex data sets.

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field;  

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably within ESA or the Space sector; 

  • Specialised experience in graphic design and multimedia support; 

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
