Ground Technical Lead Manager for IRIS²

We are looking for a ​Ground Technical Lead Manager​ on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in ​Arganda del Rey (Madrid), Spain​.  

As part of the SpaceRISE consortium, our client plays a central role in the IRIS² programme, leading the design, development and implementation of the ground segment, including the infrastructure needed to manage the constellation and connect it with terrestrial networks. The company is also responsible for service operations, such as defining the service catalogue, establishing procedures and developing delivery models for member states. 

In addition, our client leads the Low LEO segment, supporting innovative missions that strengthen the European space ecosystem. To meet its growing responsibilities, the company is progressively building a dedicated IRIS² team, currently composed of more than 40 professionals. 

This role requires relocation and on-site presence at the Satellite Control Centre in Arganda del Rey (Madrid). 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

• Lead technical systems matters; 

• Coordinate system engineering activities with customers, partners, and subcontractors; 

• Lead coordination between project teams with consortium partners, subcontractors, and customers to ensure adequate and efficient contribution/review to all high-level deliverables, follow-up of actions, and participation in meetings; 

• Lead the production by the team of all technical deliverables of the project; 

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements; 

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet milestones and deliverables; 

• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies; 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives; 

• Manage the delivery of the technical outputs of the assigned projects;

• Master’s Degree in either Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; 

• At least 10 years of relevant experience; 

• Successful experience in managing large institutional and commercial projects; 

• Proven experience in managing technical teams in complex engineering projects; 

• Familiarity with Ground Segment hardware and software development and in Ground Segment integration; 

• Strong experience in end-to-end Ground Segment engineering; 

• Strong Experience with satellite ground segment operations and network management; 

• Knowledge and experience in software tools related with System Engineering and Requirement Management; 

• Good presentation and communication skills; 

• Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;  

• Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain Personal Security Clearance (PSC) up to ESA SECRET / EU SECRET; 

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; 

• Any other European language is considered an asset.
