Job description

We are looking for an ​IT Technician​ to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the ​IT Department​ of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in ​Frascati, Italy​.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Perform telephony support activities, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and administration of fixed telephony services, handsets, extensions, groups, hunt groups, and PABX-related infrastructure;  

  • Provide end-user support for telephony services, including device deployment, cabling connectivity, testing, issue resolution, and coordination with facility management where required;  

  • Manage telephony assets, stock, spare parts, shipments, labelling, and records within the asset management system;  

  • Support telephony service providers during testing, upgrades, maintenance activities, and onsite interventions, including escorting external technicians when required;  

  • Provide onsite network "Hands and Eyes" support under the guidance of Network Operations and Engineering teams;  

  • Perform network and data centre patching activities involving network devices, servers, fibre, copper cabling, and end-user equipment;  

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting, setup, configuration, reboot, replacement, decommissioning, refresh, and disposal of networking infrastructure;  

  • Install, mount, dismount, label, and verify network equipment, racks, wireless access points, cables, and associated infrastructure according to applicable standards;  

  • Support remote connectivity setup and physical inspections of network devices to facilitate remote administration and incident resolution;  

  • Maintain network-related inventory, spare parts, stock levels, cabling records, and asset management databases, including updates to DCIM and cabling management systems;  

  • Assist third-party suppliers and support teams during onsite activities, network-related projects, maintenance interventions, and infrastructure upgrades;  

  • Support planned events, conferences, hardware preparations, shipments, WiFi surveys, and electrical testing activities related to IT and network infrastructure;  

  • Maintain, update, and improve knowledge bases, procedures, working instructions, and technical documentation;  

  • Perform inventory, asset management, reporting, and lifecycle tracking of IT, telephony, and networking equipment;  

  • Communicate with end-users regarding incidents, service requests, installations, relocations, deployments, and equipment recovery activities. 

Job requirements

  • Vocational training in Information Technology or similar subject;   

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a similar subject is a strong asset;   

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience;   

  • Experience in providing support to Windows OS and Mac OS based client devices;   

  • Experience with reporting on, configuring and troubleshooting of networks, local printing facilities, mobile phones and smartphones;   

  • Experience with first line networking (LAN, WiFi);   

  • Exposure to approved client applications (i.e., SAP, Adobe, MS Office, Encryption tools, etc.);   

  • Experience in O365 is a strong asset;   

  • Work experience in an international environment is an asset;   

  • Proactive and customer-focused mind-set with a courteous and respectful approach is a must;   

  • Excellent communicator with friendly attitude and active listening skills;   

  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and empathetic person with willingness to collaborate with others on different tasks and also occasionally work outside of regular working hours to respond to operational needs;   

  • Able to work both autonomously and in a team;   

  • Logical thinking, desire to learn and continuously develop;   

  • Willing and able to be on-site 5 days per week;   

  • Must be eligible to work in the EU;   

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken);  

  • Fluency in French is considered a strong asset.

The salary range advertised reflects our initial expectations for the role and our internal salary scheme.
