Job description

We are looking for a ​Materials, Environments and Contamination Control Laboratory Operations Support professional​ on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in ​Noordwijk, The Netherlands​, to join their ​Materials and Electrical Components Laboratory​.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Test definition, preparation and execution; 

  • Facility upkeep and modifications;  

  • Support with laboratory operations; 

  • Oversee and take accountability for the health and safety of the laboratory personnel; 

  • Operate under an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System, following ESA QMS; 

  • Provide technical support for CCC (Cleanliness and Contamination Control) audits; 

  • Perform portable measurements on spacecraft; 

  • Provide launch site support; 

  • Support other laboratories within ESA (eg with MOC or T-O measurements); 

  • Collect routine test data (e.g. thermo-optical, Tg, ATOX erosion) and record into dedicated databases (e.g. Modesa); 

  • Support with routine contamination/environmental modelling with standard software according to defined procedures; 

  • Support with company visits (review of cleanrooms etc); 

  • Support customers with procurement of ad-hoc supplies and hardware. This may include the design and coordination of the manufacturing of small custom-made set-ups for lab users (e.g. sample plates, small electrical setups, etc, coordinate with the workshop); 

  • Support small electrical/mechanical modifications to facilities.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the essential requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering; 

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience;  

  • Familiarity with space programmes and materials testing;  

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU;  

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
