Job description

We are looking for a ​Mechanical Engineer​ (Design) in support to our client Fusion for Energy for their location in ​Barcelona, Spain​.  

The successful candidate will support the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, manufacturing processes, and reliability requirements.

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

 

Support in activities covering aspects of: 

  • Preparation and design of mechanical components (ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-MR, RCC-MRx, Eurocodes, EN standards, European Directives, etc.) by use of at least one code and standard; 

  • Production of built-to-print documentation; 

  • Assessment of built-to-print documentation, checking both technical and economic aspects; 

  • Definition of the design of mechanical systems based on relevant manufacturing processes (forming, forging, rolling, joining, machining, assembly, testing, etc.); 

  • Performance of FMEAs and/or functional analyses and/or reliability analyses and/or spare part analyses.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet these mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • BEng in industrial, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or nuclear engineering (or equivalent). Alternatively, relevant vocational training and extensive professional experience; 

  • At least 14 years of relevant work experience in the design or manufacturing of electro-mechanical mechanisms; 

  • Experience in the preparation of the detailed design of mechanical components; 

  • Experience in the use of at least one code and standard for the design of mechanical components (ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-MR, RCC-MRx, Eurocodes, EN standards, European Directives, etc.); 

  • Experience in the production of built-to-print documentation; 

  • Experience in the assessment of built-to-print documentation, checking both technical and economic aspects; 

  • Experience in the definition of manufacturing tolerances of mechanical assemblies considering the final dimensional requirements of the assemblies, including functional annotation; 

  • General knowledge of arc welding (TIG, GMAW or SMAW) and/or brazing and/or HIPping; 

  • Experience in the definition of the design of mechanical systems based on relevant manufacturing processes (forming, forging, rolling, joining, machining, assembly, testing, etc.); 

  • Experience in the performance of FMEAs; 

  • Capable of working independently as well as in coordinated teams; 

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; 

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in EU.
