Job description

We are looking for an Optical Engineer on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in ​Milan, Italy​.  

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical systems. As an Optical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing optical technologies, contributing to cutting-edge projects, and ensuring the success of the organization. 

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Develop innovative and efficient optical systems based on project requirements; 

  • Utilize optical design software and simulation tools to optimize system performance; 

  • Conduct feasibility studies and provide input on design constraints; 

  • Plan and execute optical tests to validate system performance and compliance with specifications; 

  • Analyse test results and iterate designs to achieve optimal performance; 

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in optical technologies and incorporate relevant innovations into projects; 

  • Contribute to research initiatives aimed at pushing the boundaries of optical engineering; 

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including system engineers, mechanical engineers and AIT engineers to achieve project goals; 

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members.

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; 

  • Proven experience in designing and developing optical systems and components; 

  • Familiarity with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V) and simulation tools; 

  • Experience in the testing and validation of optical systems; 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; 

  • Proficiency in optical modeling and simulation; 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; 

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
