We are looking for an Outreach Support professional to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the Outreach Team of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in Cologne, Germany. The purpose of this Service is to support the preparation, implementation and execution of communications plans, campaigns and related events, by providing ESA with Outreach and Media relations capabilities. The Outreach team supports ESA in activities such as local outreach and related logistics, corporate strategic events organisation, corporate outreach information workflow as well as coordination with internal and external stakeholders (internal communication, ESA Astronauts, Advisory Communication Committee, etc...). 

Please be aware that this is a temporary leave cover position intended to be filled for a fixed period of 3/4 months initially, with a possibility of extension to a longer support.

Please be informed this position requires full on-site support.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Support ESA Astronauts presence and activities during live, in-person and/or online events;

  • Editorial support on communication material to support the campaigns, including articles, briefing cards/talking points, story boards, video scripts;

  • Editorial support and community development for individual astronaut social media accounts;

  • Support the development of Communication Plans related to ESA astronauts of Italian nationality;

  • Coordinate all requests for ESA astronaut public appearances, specifically the process to ensure they are processed according to the standards of ESA Communication;

  • Update the ESA/EAC editorial and event calendar;

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign;

  • Coordination and support of the engaged community (regional and national stakeholders);

  • Support and participation in coordination meetings as required;

  • Serve as point of contact function for matters of Astronaut mission communication at EAC for the astronauts of Italian nationality;

  • Administrate and coordinate ESA astronaut public appearances in accordance with the HRE-O Policy on Astronaut Appearance and, as such, work with the PAROS (ESA Astronaut Public Appearance Request Organization System) and its administrator.

Job requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Outreach, or a related discipline;

  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience;

  • A good knowledge of the Italian media landscape is an asset;

  • Familiarity with ESA working environment in a similar position is a distinct advantage;

  • High proficiency with modern electronics office automation tools, in particular Microsoft Office suite and electronic mailing;

  • Ability to communicate with industry counterparts in the execution of the project-specific tasks;

  • Capacity to identify priority actions and handle high workloads;

  • Easy contact with personnel and well-balanced autonomy in the execution of the requested tasks;

  • High level of flexibility as well as initiative and team spirit;

  • Rigor, commitment, and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;

  • Fluency in Italian, both written and spoken;

  • Knowledge of German is an asset;

  • Knowledge of another official ESA language is an asset.
