Job description

We are looking for a ​Project Controller​ to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the ​​Business Management & Administration Department​​ of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in ​Madrid, Spain​.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

  • Monitor project budgets, costs, spending, and resource planning to support effective project delivery;  

  • Assist managers in preparing and tracking annual budgets and financial plans, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions when needed;  

  • Support procurement activities, including planning, coordination, contract preparation, purchase orders, and supplier follow-up;  

  • Ensure financial and procurement documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational procedures;  

  • Maintain and update project, financial, and resource data within internal systems and planning tools;  

  • Produce regular reports and analyses on project performance, budgets, spending, commitments, and resource allocation;  

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and tracking tools to support project monitoring and decision-making;  

  • Monitor project schedules, risks, and key milestones, ensuring information is kept up to date;  

  • Support audit activities by providing documentation, data, and administrative assistance;  

  • Assist with asset and inventory management processes;  

  • Review supplier proposals and cost estimates to assess budget credibility and value for money;  

  • Coordinate operational and administrative activities related to project campaigns and special initiatives;  

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, purchase orders, and logistical arrangements for project teams;  

  • Support the organization of travel, accommodation, and local services required for project activities;  

  • Act as a point of contact between project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations 

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the essential requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline;

  • At least 10 years of experience in controlling and/or management of activities and resources in aerospace industry; 

  • Knowledge of IPSAS and Finance/Accounting is an asset; 

  • Ability to engage with other key ESA corporate stakeholders, particularly inside the CFO Directorate, (i.e. Finance and Operational Contract Services) and Project Team interactions with ESA Industrial and International Partners; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; 

  • Knowledge of another official ESA language is an asset; 

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU.
