Job description

We are looking for a ​STEM Inspiration Activities Specialist​ to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the ​STEM Learning & Inspiration Programme​ of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in Galaxia, Belgium​. The purpose of this role is to ​support the Learn with Space activity with coordination, production and delivery of the STEM inspiration initiatives and the in-orbit education activities steered by or contributed to by ESA​. Additionally, the role supports the design and delivery of inspiration and non-formal education activities in different formats, with supporting outreach and educational materials.

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

 

  • Coordinate the planning, development and delivery of STEM inspiration and non-formal education activities, both online and onsite, organised by ESA and its partners, including space events, camps, exhibitions, hackathons, conferences, career-awareness initiatives and astronaut-related activities; 

  • Support the design and implementation of space-related inspirational initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of STEM careers, promoting role models and facilitating access to ESA expertise and educational opportunities; 

  • Coordinate the development and production of supporting outreach, communication and educational resources, including digital content, multimedia products, educational materials, promotional assets and non-formal education resources; 

  • Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of educational and inspirational activities in collaboration with ESA experts, educational partners, ESEROs and other relevant stakeholders. 

Job requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, STEM Education, Science Communication, Educational Sciences, Science, Engineering, Space Studies or another relevant discipline; 

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in educational programmes, STEM engagement, science communication, outreach activities or related fields; 

  • Experience developing educational, outreach or communication resources for formal, non-formal and/or public engagement environments; 

  • Experience in delivering educational activities, events, workshops, training courses or outreach initiatives involving multiple stakeholders; 

  • Experience in supporting activities involving multiple stakeholders, technical teams and external partners in an international environment; 

  • Ability to translate complex scientific or technical concepts into engaging educational and communication content for diverse audiences; 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools; 

  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder-management skills; 

  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within established deadlines; 

  • Experience working in multicultural and international environments; 

  • Previous experience working with ESA, ESERO, international organisations or comparable multinational environments is a plus; 

  • Experience in STEM education, science communication, outreach or public engagement activities related to space, science or technology is a plus; 

  • Familiarity with ESA Education programmes, Learn with Space initiatives and ESERO activities is a plus; 

  • Familiarity with human spaceflight programmes, ISS educational initiatives, exploration missions or other space mission-related educational activities is a plus; 

  • Experience supporting educational activities linked to scientific experiments, astronaut missions or operational environments is a plus; 

  • Experience organising webinars, educational broadcasts, virtual events or multimedia outreach activities is a plus; 

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in STEM education, science communication and digital learning is a plus; 

  • Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the EU; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
