Job description

We are looking for a ​System Engineer​ on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in ​Arganda del Rey (Madrid), Spain​.  

 

As part of the SpaceRISE consortium, our client plays a central role in the IRIS² programme, leading the design, development and implementation of the ground segment, including the infrastructure needed to manage the constellation and connect it with terrestrial networks. The company is also responsible for service operations, such as defining the service catalogue, establishing procedures and developing delivery models for member states. 

 

In addition, our client leads the Low LEO segment, supporting innovative missions that strengthen the European space ecosystem. To meet its growing responsibilities, the company is progressively building a dedicated IRIS² team, currently composed of more than 40 professionals. 

 

This role requires on-site presence at the Satellite Control Centre in Arganda del Rey (Madrid). 

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

 

  • Support the definition, design, development and oversight of a telecommunications satellite constellation program in the area of System Engineering; 

  • Support the definition, design and development of telecommunications systems based on satellite technology; 

  • Prepare the Satellite and Launch Services Request for Proposal (RFP) and the associated technical evaluation; 

  • Support the coordination and participation in the technical contractual negotiations for Satellite and Launch Service Procurements; 

  • Coordinate the satellite design, manufacturing, integration and testing oversight activities; 

  • Coordinate, prepare and participate in unit design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; 

  • Coordinate, prepare and participate in subsystem design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; 

  • Coordinate, prepare and participate in system design, manufacturing and testing review meetings; 

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements; 

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet milestones and deliverables; 

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies; 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives; 

  • Coordinate, prepare and participate in the launch campaign and LEOP; 

  • Coordinate, prepare and participate in the In Orbit Test Campaign 

  • Support the on-orbit satellite health status assessment and coordination of anomaly investigation. 

  • Preparation of weekly reports of activities

Job requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar; 

  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar position, with hands-on experience or exposure in payload procurement, payload equipment manufacturing, or payload in-orbit operations in GEO and/or LEO; 

  • Experience in managing large EU and ESA projects; 

  • Experience with satellite ground station operations and network management; 

  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar; 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of satellite equipment and subsystems technologies (Payload and Platform); 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of satellite system related activities (e.g.: satellite architecture and dimensioning, system budgets, telecommunications analysis); 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of satellite launch services; 

  • Demonstrated skills in the area of equipment and subsystem manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing (Payload and Platform); 

  • Demonstrated skills in the area of satellite manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing; 

  • Demonstrated skills in the area of satellite launch campaigns and LEOP; 

  • Demonstrated skills in the area of Satellite In Orbit Testing (Payload and Platform); 

  • Willing and able to travel for business needs as required to various locations such as ESA ESTEC, European Commission, Manufacturer facilities and Launch Base;  

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;  

  • Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain Personal Security Clearance (PSC) up to ESA SECRET / EU SECRET; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
